Non-messy colour mixing with paints!

This activity was a great combination of learning colours, learning colour mixing, and having good fun squishing paint. I got three clear plastic ziplock bags, and filled one with red and yellow paint, one with red and blue paint, and one with green and yellow paint. My toddler identified the colours and then had great fun squishing them together. He loved the feel of the paint in the bags, and the no-mess element appealed to me!

Once he’d given them a good squish and mix, we had a look at what colours had been made. He was amazed seeing the new colours! When my preschooler returned from nursery, he thought this was fantastic and had a good go at squishing the bags too. He was then very interested in the colour mixing and what combination produced what colour. Thankfully you could still see the original colours in the bags so it was easy to describe.
