Shaving foam messy play!

Shaving foam has such a nice feel to it. And it strangely satisfying to squirt out of the can. What’s more my boys absolutely love playing with it. So I like to come up with different ingredient mixes for them to get their hands into and just experiment with.

For this one, I mixed some cornflour, shaving foam and washing up liquid and gave them a little whisk. You can vary the proportions of the ingredients to get different feeling foam to play with – more cornflour and its a bit more like sand, more shaving foam and its more like meringue.

I then gave the boys a tub each, some pipettes and some coloured water (food colouring in water) and let them get on with it. They loved mixing, pipetting, stirring, feeling and squishing. Quite the sensory experience! And the pipetting motion is good for their finger muscles for developing their fine motor skills.

Inquisitive

Hi! I’m Claire, stay-at-home-mum to two gorgeous boys and a lovely girl. My kids are energetic, spirited and full-of-life, and they certainly keep me on my toes. I love spending time with them and seeing them learn and experience new things – I hope that this blog will give you ideas to try out on the children in your life!
