Making a paper clip float

We made a paper clip float! We first checked out that the paper clilp didnt float when we put it in water. Then we gently laid some tissue paper on the surface of the water and put the paper clip on top of that. Once the water had formed a ‘skin’, we used the end of a paintbrush to gently push the paper into the water without touching the paper clip. Once it got wet, the tissue paper started to sink so we could then remove it from the bowl. The paper clip stayed floating thanks to surface tension! An easy, quick one that amazed the boys!

Inquisitive

Hi! I’m Claire, stay-at-home-mum to two gorgeous boys and a lovely girl. My kids are energetic, spirited and full-of-life, and they certainly keep me on my toes. I love spending time with them and seeing them learn and experience new things – I hope that this blog will give you ideas to try out on the children in your life!
