Making water bend with a balloon!

I love doing simple experiments with the boys that are fun and require little set up. My boys love balloons, so any experiments that involve balloons generally go down well. They are too young to really understand what static electricity is, but they can see it in action and be amazed some of the consequences. So I decided to show them how I could ‘bend’ water with a balloon. I simpled rubbed the balloon up and down my top for about 10/15 seconds, and then placed it near a thin stream of water from the tap (making sure the bit of the balloon I rubbed was nearest to the water). And voila…the water bent towards the balloon. My preschooler thought this was amazing! He had lots of go’s and making the water bend towards him.
