The Selaron Steps

My preschooler loves a building challenge, particularly one that leads into messy play. We read about the Selaron Steps in ‘Let’s Visit Rio de Janeiro’ – see my post on books for Brazil week. So I thought we could make them out of sugar cubes and colour them with food colouring. I got my son to think about how to build the steps and we talked about the construction. He then coloured them…and of course ended up dissolving all the sugar into a colourful mess. But he loves using the pipettes and it’s good for those motor skills so why not?!

Inquisitive

Hi! I’m Claire, stay-at-home-mum to two gorgeous boys and a lovely girl. My kids are energetic, spirited and full-of-life, and they certainly keep me on my toes. I love spending time with them and seeing them learn and experience new things – I hope that this blog will give you ideas to try out on the children in your life!
