Making ginger beer for Oktoberfest!

Oktoberfest – beer festival and funfair in Munich – is such an integral part of German culture that I felt we had to honour it in some way on our ‘visit’ to Germany. But clearly I didn’t want the boys drinking beer. Then I came across this recipe for Jamaican ginger beer that you could make at home with kids, and I thought – perfect!

It was really easy to do with my preschooler. He loved chopping the ginger, and squeezing the lemon (though he was confused as to why the lemon squeezer was manual and not automated!).

He was intrigued what would happen after waiting 24 hours for it to ferment. But it was a delicious drink! I highly recommend this as an activity.

Inquisitive

Hi! I’m Claire, stay-at-home-mum to two gorgeous boys and a lovely girl. My kids are energetic, spirited and full-of-life, and they certainly keep me on my toes. I love spending time with them and seeing them learn and experience new things – I hope that this blog will give you ideas to try out on the children in your life!
