Edible paint!

Kids love painting, and (at least mine) love sugar! So combine the two, and it’s a winning combination. We made some edible paint, and used it to paint the Olympic rings onto some bread as part of our ‘Greece week’. But this activity could be used to paint any picture at all so doesn’t have to be limited to any particular theme.

To make the paint, we got some small containers (I used silicone muffin cases) and put a bit of water in – about half full. Then I added sugar – about 3 or 4 teaspoons – until it was a gloopy consistency. Finally I added a different colour food colouring to each one until I got the desired colour. My son used teaspoons to paint the bread with the sugary paint. It would probably have looked more striking on white bread, but I decided there was enough sugar already!

Inquisitive

Hi! I’m Claire, stay-at-home-mum to two gorgeous boys and a lovely girl. My kids are energetic, spirited and full-of-life, and they certainly keep me on my toes. I love spending time with them and seeing them learn and experience new things – I hope that this blog will give you ideas to try out on the children in your life!
