Sand foam!

I love messy and sensory play for the kids. I think it’s so good for them to just have the freedom to explore, and feel new and different textures and sensations. When I was thinking about activities for our ‘Israel week’, I thought that I had to have some kind of messy play involving sand, given how much of the country is desert or semi-desert. And that’s where sand foam came in!

It’s so easy and has just two ingredients – sand and shaving foam. You can really play around with the proportions to make a whole variety of different types of sand, and to make it as dry or gloopy as you like. My preschooler loves to squirt the shaving foam, so ours was definitely on the more gloopy side.

He had lots of fun digging around in it! Once he’d had a play, I put it outside and the boys played with it on and off for a few days. I’d like to try it again with a bit less shaving foam to see what the sand is like. Lots of fun!

Hi! I’m Claire, stay-at-home-mum to two gorgeous boys and a lovely girl. My kids are energetic, spirited and full-of-life, and they certainly keep me on my toes. I love spending time with them and seeing them learn and experience new things – I hope that this blog will give you ideas to try out on the children in your life!
