Nutcracker craft

After we read the Nutcracker book for our ‘Russia week’ – see my post on books for Russia week – I decided that we could make a little Nutcracker that we could make dance and march for ourselves.

For this you will need –

  • White card
  • Butterfly clips
  • Felt pens
  • Scissors

To help my preschooler know what we were aiming for, I made a Nutcracker first, and then helped him make his own. I drew out the pieces on some card for him, and then helped him cut them out. He coloured them in. We then inserted four butterfly clips (we did it together so he wouldn’t hurt himself). One through each shoulder, and one through each hip. The shoulder ones then got punched through the tops of the arms, and the hip ones got punched through the tops of the legs, before opening out the clips. Then we had ourselves some dancing Nutcrackers!

Inquisitive

Hi! I’m Claire, stay-at-home-mum to two gorgeous boys and a lovely girl. My kids are energetic, spirited and full-of-life, and they certainly keep me on my toes. I love spending time with them and seeing them learn and experience new things – I hope that this blog will give you ideas to try out on the children in your life!
